Empowering Artisans: Live Foundation’s Impactful Initiative at Aadi Mahotsav, Jamshedpur
Introduction:
Live Foundation (LF) is committed to empowering marginalized communities, with a special focus on tribal and local artisans. Our recent endeavor involved supporting our skilled artisans in participating in Aadi Mahotsav, the National Tribal Festival, held in Jamshedpur from 7th October 2023 to 20th October 2023. This report highlights our artisans' participation in the event and the positive impact of this initiative.
The Aadi Mahotsav Experience:
Aadi Mahotsav, the National Tribal Festival, was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda. Organized by TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, this festival celebrated the invaluable contributions of tribal communities to our nation's development. The event showcased over 150 stalls, featuring tribal art and handicrafts, offering a platform to 336 tribal artisans and artists, including Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups and Van Dhan Kendra beneficiaries.
Our Remarkable Participation and Impact:
Live Foundation proudly hosted a dedicated stall at Aadi Mahotsav, where our team showcased elegant Lac products crafted by women under our "Lac Handicraft Training Program." These products included bangles, paperweights, spectacles stands, rings, key chains, jewelry sets, & more.
Our stall attracted excited visitors who loved the colorful and beautiful Lac products. The remarkable craftsmanship of these women left a lasting impression. Customers were particularly impressed by the traditional touch and handmade quality of our Lac bangles. Many customers expressed their desire to purchase Lac bangles again and placed orders.
LF facilitated market linkages for the trained women, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and creating additional employment opportunities for the tribal community. This success not only boosted the morale of our artisans but also expanded their horizons, making a positive impact on their lives.
Live Foundation's initiative to promote Lac bangles at Aadi Mahotsav was met with great enthusiasm and success. The positive customer response and demand for our trainees' Lac bangles demonstrate a thriving market for handmade products. This event provided an excellent platform to promote and support our artisans' efforts. It stands as a testament to the positive impact LF is making in the lives of artisans, fostering economic empowerment, and preserving India's rich heritage.
