ABOUT US

CELEBRATING 12 YEARS OF EMPOWERMENT

Welcome to LIVE FOUNDATION, where we believe in empowering the most marginalized and underserved communities by building resilience and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. For over a decade, we have worked tirelessly to transform the lives of women, farmers, vulnerable community and forest dwellers by bringing their needs, perspectives, and abilities to the forefront of the developmental process.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to build integrated communities where everyone has a voice and an equal opportunity to thrive. We work closely with grassroot governance, including Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), line departments of government, research institutions, and private agencies, to ensure that our programs are effective and sustainable.

At LIVE FOUNDATION, we understand that true change comes from within. That's why we focus on empowering women to be at the forefront of our programs. We work with self-help groups (SHGs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) to provide them with the tools and resources they need to shape their own futures. By identifying and articulating their own needs, women gain the collective strength and long-term perspective necessary to drive change in their communities.

As we celebrate our 12th year of humble efforts, we invite you to join us in our mission to empower those who need it most. Together, we can build a brighter future for women, farmers, and forest dwellers across the state and beyond. Thank you for your support, and welcome to the LIVE FOUNDATION community!

OPERATING MODEL

LIVE FOUNDATION’s operational model involves a well-structured governance framework, where the Board of Trustees plays a pivotal role in making key decisions, while the Managing Trustee is entrusted with executing these decisions effectively. This model ensures transparency, accountability, and efficient management of the organization’s activities and resources. LF emphasizes a clear division of roles and responsibilities between the Board of Trustees and the Managing Trustee. This approach promotes effective decision-making, efficient execution, transparency, and accountability, enabling the organization to advance its mission and achieve its goals in a sustainable manner.

Governance Structure:

The governance structure consists of two main components: the Board of Trustees and the Managing Trustee.

Board of Trustees:

Composed of individuals with diverse expertise, experience, and a commitment to the NGO's mission. Meets regularly (biannually meeting, or as needed) to review progress, assess challenges, and make informed decisions.

  • Strategic Planning: Responsible for defining the NGO's strategic direction, long-term goals, and policies.
  • Ensures adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Policy Formulation: Creating and reviewing policies that guide the organization's activities.
  • Financial Oversight: Approving budgets, financial reports, and major expenditures.
  • Program Approval: Reviewing and approving new programs or initiatives.
  • Evaluation: Assessing the NGO's performance against its goals and mission.

Managing Trustee:

The Managing Trustee is given a significant level of autonomy and decision-making authority to ensure swift and efficient execution of the Board's directives. The managing trustee should necessarily be female and one of the board members. She is appointed by the Board and serves as the chief executive and operational head of the NGO. Reports regularly to the Board on progress, challenges, and resource allocation.

  • Execution: Implementing strategies, policies, & programs approved by Board.
  • Operational Management: Overseeing all aspects of the NGO's activities, including projects, fundraising, building/developing infrastructure, and partnerships.
  • Team Management: Hiring, managing, and supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Financial Management: Managing the budget, financial transactions, and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with donors, partners, and the community.

DECISION-MAKING PROCESS:

The decision-making process involves collaboration and consultation between the Board and the Managing Trustee.

Board's Role:

Sets the overall direction and strategic priorities of the organization.

Approves annual budgets, major expenditures, and fundraising strategies.

Reviews and approves new program initiatives, partnerships, and significant policy changes.

Monitors and evaluates the performance of the Managing Trustee and the overall organization.

Managing Trustee's Role:

Translates the Board's decisions into actionable plans and strategies.

Leads program design, implementation, and management.

Allocates resources based on Board-approved budgets.

Engages with external stakeholders, partners, and donors to advance the NGO's mission.

Provides regular updates to the Board on operational progress, challenges, and achievements.

Conflict Resolution:

A conflict resolution mechanism is established to address disagreements between the Board and the Managing Trustee.

Process: Initially, attempts are made to resolve conflicts through open communication & discussion. If a resolution is not achieved, an independent mediator or committee may be involved. Ultimately, the Board retains the authority to make final decisions in cases of irreconcilable disputes.

Succession Planning:

To ensure continuity, the NGO implements a succession plan for both the Board and the Managing Trustee.

Process:

The Board identifies potential new trustees with the required expertise and values. A clear process is in place for appointing a new Managing Trustee in case of vacancy, with Board’s approval.
